Rumour: James Shimoji teases new Lupin the IIIRD film

James Shimoji, composer of the existing three Lupin the IIIRD spin-off films, has made an interesting post on social media today.

"Finally, the finish is in sight. But still, I worked hard. lol"

The tweet contains a single image, featuring a black background and white text. A good friend of the site, Maia, provides us with the translation below:

It is not often that this word "shūgeki (終劇)" is used at the end of a film. Usually, it's "owari (終)", "oshimai (おしまい)" or "kan (完)", and I've only seen "shūgeki" in Lupin the IIIRD spin-offs.

We already know that more Lupin the IIIRD spin-off films are on the way, with the rumour being that the next is to centre around Inspector Zenigata. This is a logical conclusion to have reached, considering that the first three revolve around Jigen, Goemon and Fujiko. The saga is speculated to be wrapped up with a final fifth film, with focus shifting back onto Lupin III.

James Shimoji met up with director Takeshi Koike earlier this year to discuss future film projects, which were hinted at the time as being Lupin related.

It sounds like if the two are indeed related, the project development is coming to a close, and we shouldn’t have much longer left to wait to find out the details — stay tuned!

A huge thanks to Maia for the assistance with translation.
