The Castle of Cagliostro Epcar Entertainment English dub officially announced!

A new English language audio dub for the 1979 Hayao Miyazaki directed classic The Castle of Cagliostro has been officially revealed - and it stars members of the original Part 2 Geneon / Pioneer dubbing cast!

Created in partnership between TMS Entertainment, Discotek Media, and Epcar Entertainment, the dub is due to hit Blu-ray during early next year, in 2026. This news was first rumoured a couple of years back, and eventually confirmed by Richard Epcar himself in a YouTube interview earlier this year. The current English dub line-up, which stars Tony Oliver as Lupin III, Lex Lang as Goemon, Michelle Ruff as Fujiko, and Doug Erholz as Inspector Zenigata, joins Richard, who plays Jigen, for this re-release of the iconic film. Fans in the United States have become fond of this current cast, and therefore this re-release does feel warranted.

Alongside the main cast comes an array of familiar voices, including Cherami Kuehm as Lady Clarisse de Cagliostro, Jamieson Price as the evil Count, Steve Kramer as Jodot, Jason Charles Miller as Gustav, Bill Rogers as the Commander, and Paul St. Peter as the Groundsman. Ellyn Stern, Richard’s partner, will also feature as part of the extended cast (as she often does - it’s always great to see Ellyn involved)!

The Blu-ray release itself is set to be expansive, with all of the extras featured as part of Discotek Media’s most recent high definition home video release included here. That means it's due to include:

  • All three English language dubbed audio tracks

  • A 1980s theatrical subtitle restoration

  • Translation notes

  • Original trailers

  • Interviews

  • Feature commentary

  • Feature-length original storyboards

  • Deleted storyboard opening

  • An art gallery

  • An opening and ending credits collection

A steel book version of the Blu-ray, which includes a gorgeous design complete with a slip cover, will be available exclusively at the Crunchyroll online store in the United States. Pre-orders are due to go live at a later date.

That same store currently has both 1080p and 4K Blu-ray versions of the previous physical Cagliostro release at a discounted price, of around $28 and $24 respectively. It is currently unclear on whether or not these will both remain available once the new version releases in 2026 (likely the 4K version will, while the 1080p version may become discountinued, in our opinion).

Are you excited for this new release? If you already picked up a previous home video version of Cagliostro, is the new English dub enough for you to double, triple, maybe even quadruple dip? Let us know in the comments below!
