TMS announce "Zenigata and the Two Lupins" ONA film
TMS Entertainment have announced a new original net animation film, which is due to launch online ahead of the upcoming theatrical release of Lupin the IIIRD The Movie: Immortal Bloodline.
Lupin the IIIRD: Zenigata and the two Lupins will act as a shorter prequel to the upcoming feature film and will feature some returning staff members - director Takeshi Koike, script writer Yūya Takahashi, and composer James Shimoji.
The caption above reads “What was stolen was your own identity…”
While the upcoming films storyline follows Lupin and his cohorts as they seek a hidden treasure on a mysterious island, this spin-off tale focuses on Inspector Zenigata (finally) and is set in the “Roviet Union” (nicely side stepping referencing the actual Soviet Union). An explosion shakes the wintry city, and Lupin is the prime suspect. It’s up to Inspector Zenigata to apprehend Lupin, and prove his innocence - a challenging task, as there now appear to be two Lupins?!
Lupin the IIIRD: Zenigata and the two Lupins will launch exclusively at select video streaming outlets online from June the 20th 2025 in Japan. Lupin the IIIRD The Movie: Immortal Bloodline is due to launch in theatres from June the 27th. A complete list of participating streaming services can be found on the films official website, with information on a global release to come at a later date. WOWOW will be broadcasting the new short film on Japanese television, alongside the previous releases in the Lupin the IIIRD film series, from 6pm on Sunday the 22nd of June 2025. At a guess, we expect the length of this new film to match that of the others, with a runtime of around one hour.
More details on an internation release are no doubt coming at a later date - stay tuned!
