“Part 2” complete collection Blu-ray coming to U.S!
Fantastic news, red jacket fans! The classic 1977 - 1980 released animated television series is coming to Blu-ray in the United States this October, 2026.
Announced by Discotek Media at their recent Otakon media panel, this will mark the first time all 155 episodes of the classic series has released on Blu-ray in the United States (previously only getting a DVD set spanning four separate releases). Both Japanese language and English language dubbed audio will be available, however note that not every episode of the show was dubbed into English - episodes 1 through 79, in addition to episodes 145 and 155 - eighty-one episodes in total.
Special features include an opening and endling collection, art galleries, liner notes, commentaries, promos, and English dub outtakes. The set will include four discs and features consistent package design with Discotek Media’s previous Blu-ray releases of Lupin III: Part 1, Part 3, and Part 4.
All episodes included are presented in Standard Definition, ignoring the high-definition masters from the Japanese Blu-ray release. While initially this may sound disappointing to fans of HD media, this is good news. Not only are Discotek able to fit all 155 episodes in one collection by using the SD videos, they are presenting viewers with the best quality version of the show. The HD film scans notoriously had issues upon their release, with image ghosting and poor filtering. These issues were highlighted in friend of the website Crash’s recent post over on Blusky, showing stills from the HD masters. Sadly, the show never received a better film scan, and therefore in 2026, the SD versions present a better representation of the original episodes. Perhaps TMS will correct this for an updated Japanese release in future - one can only hope.
The set is currently up for pre-order for a sale price of $71.99, with RRP being $79.99. Shipping will begin on October 27th, 2026. Order your copy now over on Media OCD by clicking here and check out the trailer for the set over on Discotek Media’s Bluesky account by clicking here.
